Jajpur Sub Divisional Hospital accredited as District Headquarter Hospital from dt. 22.09.1993. Initially, it was a 65 bedded hospital. This 65 bedded DHH was managed by 15 numbers of doctors. In the year 1998, additional 100 bed sanctioned for the DHH, one 20 bedded Eye hospital started and one post of Dental specialist created. Later on, One 10 bedded Paediatric ward sanctioned by the Government.

Now there are 71 nos. of doctor positions sanctioned for managing the DHH. And the DHH is functional with 195 nos. of bed, 4 nos. of ward and one 6 storeyed 100 bedded MCH building. Likewise one 30 bedded MCH Wing is functional at CHC Dharmashala.
Previously, Jajpur Sub-Division was constituted with the following health infrastructure / facilities at Block and Sub-block level:
– 4 nos. of CHC viz. Binjharpur, Badchana, Dharmasala & Mangalpur.
– 01 no. of UPHC
– 06 nos. of PHC viz. Bari, Dasrathpur, Madhuban, Markandpur, Sukinda & Korei
– 03 nos. of Leprosy eradication Centre at Sukinda, Chandikhol & Jajpur
– 07nos. of additional PHC
– 04nos. of Hospitals
– 29 nos. of PHC(new)
– 05 nos of …… health centre
– 05 nos of …….. treatment center
– 260 nos of Sub centres
– 04nos of Other Hospitals viz. J.K. Road Hospital, Haridaspur Hospital, Gopalpur Hospital & Accident Unit Chandikhol.
Now the Health infrastructure is strengthened and managed with 01 District Head Quarter Hospital, 12nos of CHC, 03nos of Other Hospital, 56 nos. of PHC(N). Now, State Govt. has granted additional 03 nos of PHC(N) viz. Singhpur, Dakshin Bandha & Kunjabihari and additional 48 nos. of Sub centre over & above the existing 260nos Sub centre.
Now the Govt. has increased the sanctioned post of doctors from 04 to 06 in each CHC and sanctioned 07 nos. of doctor position for CHC Jajpur Road. Also, One post of Dental Surgeon is sanctioned for each CHC.
Different Schemes/programmes are executed by the district to ensure adequate and quality health care to the people. Some of the activities are mentioned below.
1877 nos. of ASHAs are engaged at village level to work as the bridge between the community and the Health services.
1537 nos. of Village Health, Sanitation & Nutrition Committees (Gaon Kalyan Samiti) has been formed to address health, nutrition & sanitation related problems on an immediate basis. Each GKS is being provided with Rs.10000/- in each year as grant in aid.
Rogi kalyan samiti has been formed in every PHC, CHC & Dist. Head quarter hospital for development & smooth management of the hospital with a provision of Untied Fund.
There 02 nos. of NRCs are functional for management of severely malnourished children.
Now there 18 nos. of Ambulances (108) and 23 nos. of Janani Express are working under district.
Health Insurance Schemes viz. RSBY , BKKY are implement alongwith additional State Govt. Scheme for BPL families (OSTF) to ensure zero out of pocket expenditure.
There is only one & first CBNAAT (equipment) machine installed at DHH for detection/ genuine test of TB.
The Chemotherapy department is working at DHH for detection & treatment of Cancer.
Niramaya yojana (Free medicine) & Niddan yojana ( free disease diagnostic service) from Sub centre level to DHH level is implemented.
There are 03 nos of Swarga Ratha & 01 no of Mahaprayana vehicle present in district as dead body carrier.
The following departments will be made functional shortly at DHH, Jajpur
• Special new born care Unit (SNCU)
• Geriatric Ward
• Dialysis Unit
One Super Specialist Hospital is going to be opened shortly.
Jajpur District has been awarded with “best health service provider district” in 2017 by Times of India Group.

Nagada was known for 19 nos. of child death in all over world from the month of September, 2015 to June, 2016 as it was an undeveloped interior area. Now in 2018 a drastic change has been made in that area which is a matter of amazement for all. It could be possible to make the undeveloped, far from immunization and Mother & child health service area to a fully developed area and it shows the dutyful attitude of Dist. Collector & employees of health Department.
